I don’t know about you, but as the year comes to an end, my social media feeds have become inundated with montage videos and carousel posts about how much people have accomplished this year. It’s an endless feed, which turns into an endless scroll.
I’m here to tell you that comparison, especially in this case, is the number one thief of joy. Who cares if you haven’t moved out of your parents’ home yet, but Nancy has? Who cares if Rachael has got that pay rise you were hoping for, and you haven’t? Who cares if John has started every day at the crack of dawn, whilst you sleep in? Who cares if… Ok, you get the idea.
Every single person on this earth is on their own life path. Some weeks, months and years will look incredibly different to the next person. You may feel like you haven’t accomplished as much as everyone else around you – but let me tell you just how wrong you are.
You’ve done more than enough this year: you’ve shown up, you’ve kept going, and you’ve handled more than you every know. If this year was a… slower year, a sadder year, a year filled with more heartbreak and pain than before, you’re still here. You’ve pushed through some of your hardest battles, and you’ve kept winning. You deserve to be proud of how far you’ve come, and you’re worthy of all the good things coming your way in 2025.
That’s all for today, but please keep this in mind. Your goals are still your goals, it might just take you a little longer to reach them – and with a longer journey comes more lessons learnt along the way.
