Hi everyone! It’s been a while since my last update, and so much has happened. I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news and personal reflections with you all. As the saying goes, ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.’ Let’s dive into what’s been keeping me busy lately!
First off, I’m thrilled to announce that I recently got a new job in influencer marketing at a very exciting activewear brand. It’s been almost a week since I started, and I am so excited to see where this leads me. I have now also put in my request to fully withdraw from my university studies, as I can now see a clear career path ahead of me. To be honest, I haven’t given it any thought of the last year of temporary withdrawal – I’ve just got on with my life and chosen the life path for me. I thought that now is the time to finally leave my university life behind me, as it wasn’t serving me and this path I am on does not need a degree.
On a personal note, I am getting ready to celebrate my 21st birthday in July! Being in the working world, I sometimes feel a lot older than this, as I have always labelled this age as the “uni years” – now I am not at uni, it feels strange. But more often I feel younger, almost like I don’t want to grow up! And this isn’t a bad thing (I don’t think so, anyways.)
I finished at my last workplace over two weeks ago now, so I used the time between jobs to visit friends and family around the country. First of all, I joined my sister and her friends in Bath to celebrate their finishing exams (and uni). It’s actually crazy that most of my friends, and my sister, will be graduating in July. Then I escaped to the coast down south to spend time with my boyfriend’s family, attending his sister’s wedding and getting to know everyone. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us and I even got a bit of a tan! After driving 300+ miles to Dorset and back, the next day I drove a further 150+ miles up to York with my sister to see some friends. We spent a lovely weekend away in an AirBnB called the Squirrel’s Nest (I’ll try and find the page for you) – I highly recommend.
Now I am in the office 9-5 most days of the week, and it has been a shock to the system, but nothing I haven’t done before!
Now that I’m working for an activewear brand, and that my job has a huge focus on finding new athletes to sign and thus scrolling through ‘Gymtok’ a lot of the time, there is a lot of pressure on me at the moment (external and internal) to find a new routine with exercise, as well as food. I knew coming into this job I’d find it a little difficult, despite being so far into recovery. However, it has impacted me a lot more than I thought it would. Despite this, I am working towards finding a healthy balance with food and exercise again. I am surrounded by avid gym-goers, both in the office and through my job on social media, but that shouldn’t stop me from staying healthy and not slipping into old habits again. I am working hard on creating a good relationship around food and exercise, as I am learning that eating healthy and going to the gym most days is not a bad thing! This is a healthy lifestyle. I know that if I can change my mindset into this thinking, it’ll be much more manageable during my time in this company.
On a lighter note, I am so excited to dive straight into this new job. I am someone who thrives off new challenges and hardwork – hence my excitement. I’ll be grafting a lot but all for good rewards! Balancing work life with my social life and self-care time may be difficult, but I am willing to put the work in and watch myself grow.
Reflecting on the past few months, I’m grateful for the growth and experiences I’ve had. None of this would have been possible without the support of my family, friends, and colleagues. Their encouragement has been a cornerstone of my journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my latest life updates. I would love to hear what’s new with you too! Feel free to share your own updates in the comments below. Stay tuned for more posts, and remember to cherish every moment.
