02 June – Journal Entry

I can’t believe it’s already June! This year is truly flying by, but don’t we say that every year?

The last few weeks have been super busy, from finishing at my current workplace, to partying and lots of catching up on sleep. I’m currently away in Dorset for a few days, and the weather has been tremendous (I’m writing this now on the beach!). Later next week I am also off to York with my sister to visit some friends and just have some time together before she graduates and I start my new job on Monday.

Being here in Dorset has made me appreciate the small things again, and finding those still moments we have in everyday life – and trust me, there’s more than you think. Even things like waking up and just lying there for a moment, or taking your time next to the waves on the sandy beach, closing your eyes and soaking up the sunshine. These moments are what makes life worth living. Not the huge momentous occassions like new born babies, engagement proposals, and winning your first medal in a race. It’s the moments that lead up to those events that are worth cherishing.

I’m learning to really take my time with things, and also being present. The 5×5 rule is something that has helped me a lot recently. “If it won’t matter to you in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it.” if you have never tried this method of rational thinking when you start to spiral in your head, go for it. In a week I’ll be starting a new job, in a slightly new field, and it’s definitely a bit out of my comfort zone. I am scared, but scared is good! It’s what drives me, and motivates me. I’m ready for a new challenge – that’s why I applied for this job in the first place. I love to push myself and take on any new project, so here’s to stepping out of our comfort zones every once in a while! 🥂

Word of the week: patience

3 things that made me happy this week:

  • Gorgeous wedding here in Dorset!
  • Spending time in the glorious sun
  • Celebrating the end of exams for my sister at university

ADVICE FOR YOU:

  • Take your time
  • Slow life down a little (it’s not a race)
  • Step out of your comfort zone – you never know what might happen

Have a wonderful week my lovelies!
