There’s something about the first day of a new month that feels like a quiet reset button. It’s not as loud or pressurised as New Year’s, but it still carries that soft energy of possibility. October, especially, feels like a turning point – the air cools, the days shorten, and we’re invited to slow down, reflect, and shift into a new rhythm.
I’ve found that setting intentions at the start of each month helps me feel more grounded. Instead of chasing endless goals or trying to “fix” myself, I use this time to tune inwards: What do I need this month? What would make me feel supported, balanced, or inspired?
For October, my focus is on balance: balancing rest with productivity, solitude with connection, and grounding with growth. Life has felt a little shaky lately, with changes I can’t control, but that’s the beauty of intentions. They’re not about perfection. They’re about direction.
If you want to set your own intentions for this month, try asking yourself:
- What do I want to let go of from September?
- What do I want to welcome in for October?
- How do I want to feel by the end of the month?
Maybe your intention is to carve out more slow evenings for yourself. Maybe it’s to call that friend you’ve been meaning to reconnect with. Or maybe it’s simply to breathe deeper and not rush through your days.
Whatever you choose, let it be gentle. Let it be something that feels like an act of love toward yourself. October doesn’t need you to have it all figured out. It just asks you to show up, as you are, and walk slowly into the season ahead.
