When I launched The Pepetoe Podcast, I didn’t have a grand strategy or a “10-step plan to success.” I simply wanted a space where I could be honest, open, and vulnerable. Writing has always been part of my healing, but podcasting gave me something different: a voice. My voice.
And I’ve learned that sometimes, speaking the words out loud is just as powerful, if not more, than writing them down.
Podcasting as Therapy
For me, podcasting is a form of therapy. Each episode feels like an entry in my personal journal, except this journal talks back. By sharing my thoughts, struggles, and little wins, I’ve been able to process emotions I’d normally keep tucked away.
There’s something incredibly freeing about putting feelings into words and releasing them into the world. I’ve cried mid-recording. I’ve laughed at myself. I’ve said things I didn’t even know I needed to say until I pressed “record.”
Podcasting doesn’t replace professional help, but it has become a tool in my recovery toolkit. It helps me stay accountable, reflective, and most importantly… human.

Trusting My Own Voice
One of the hardest parts of starting a podcast was learning to trust my own voice. Not just the sound of it (which I didn’t like at first!), but the message behind it.
At first, imposter syndrome showed up every time I opened my mic:
- Who am I to give advice?
- What if no one listens?
- What if I say the wrong thing?
But with every episode, I’ve learned to let go of that fear. I remind myself: I am not here to prove I have all the answers, I’m simply here to share my journey. And if just one person feels less alone because of something I said, that’s more than enough.
Letting Go of Imposter Syndrome
A huge turning point for me was realizing this: I am allowed and able to help others.
We don’t need to be “perfectly healed” or “fully qualified” to share our stories. Sometimes the most powerful support comes from someone who’s still in the trenches themselves. Someone who gets it.
I let go of the need to sound polished or professional all the time. Instead, I chose to sound like me. And in doing so, I found a community of people who resonate with that honesty.
The Power of Vulnerable Conversations
Every time I publish an episode, I feel a little expose, but I guess that’s the beauty of it. Vulnerability creates connection. By opening up about recovery, mental health, or just everyday struggles, I’ve invited listeners into a space where they too can be real.
And it’s not one-sided. So many of you have messaged me, shared your own stories, and told me how certain episodes landed at just the right time. That’s the magic of podcasting: it turns one person’s voice into a shared conversation.
My Top 5 Episodes for New Listeners
If you’re just starting out with The Pepetoe Podcast, here are 5 episodes I recommend diving into first (all with Spotfiy links attached). From my very first episodes, to the deeper ones, there’s something for everyone:
- Dropping Out Of Uni – Let’s Chat!
This episode was released back in 2023, when I made the difficult decision to leave university and dive into the world of social media and content creation. It was hard, but having the podcast here to support me was incredible. - This Is Just The Beginning: Intro
The very first episode of The Pepetoe Podcast – well, back then, if you remember, it was called This Is Just The Beginning! I introduce myself, share what Pepetoe is all about, and explain why I started this journey in the first place. It’s raw, unpolished, and full of the honesty that continues to shape this space today. - Let’s Talk Friendships!
In this episode, I open up about friendships: how they change, how to navigate difficult dynamics, and the importance of finding people who truly lift you up. It’s a reflective one, especially for anyone figuring out who belongs in their corner. - Real Talk On Wellness, Fitness & Self-Love | Guest Episode With Synead
One of my first guest episodes! I chat with the amazing Synead about all things wellness, fitness, and building self-love in a world that constantly tells us we’re not enough. This conversation is uplifting, empowering, and full of takeaways for your own journey. - This Is Just The Beginning: What would you tell you younger self?
A reflective episode where I think about the advice I wish I could give younger me: about recovery, resilience, and believing in myself. It’s one of those episodes that makes you pause and ask the same question to yourself.
Podcasting has given me confidence, accountability, and a community I never could have imagined when I first hit record. It’s my therapy, my journal, and my reminder that I don’t have to be “proving” anything—I just need to keep improving, and keep sharing.
