Walking for Memories: Our Alzheimer’s Society Fundraiser

If you listen to my podcast, you may know how much I love the local pub in our village – it’s the heart of the community and something so special. Through the pub, the village comes together so many times a year, raising money and awareness for charities that matter. Over the years, they’ve supported Macmillan, St Richard’s Hospice, and one that’s very close to my heart, BEAT Eating Disorders. (We even held our own BEAT fundraiser there earlier this year – a day that meant so much to me and my family.)

The pub really is the heartbeat of our village. It’s more than just a place to grab a drink – it’s where friendships are made, stories are shared, and the community comes together. From quiz nights to charity events, and from summer fairs to winter celebrations, the pub always finds a way to bring people together for a good cause. Its warmth, welcoming atmosphere, and dedication to supporting local initiatives make it such a special place, and we’re so lucky to have it at the centre of our village life.

This time, the cause is one that touches so many people in our village: the Alzheimer’s Society. Dementia and Alzheimer’s affect countless families, and sadly, many of us here know what it’s like to watch loved ones face it. That’s why this fundraiser feels so important – it’s not just about money, but about showing up as a community, together.

In September, we’ll be heading up the Malvern Hills – not for a race, not for steps or stats, but for a meaningful day out where every stride supports this incredible charity. The walk is about togetherness, raising awareness, and giving back. A chance to take in the fresh air, enjoy the views, and remind ourselves that when we stand together, we can make a real difference.

If you’d like to support us, whether by donating, sharing, or simply cheering us on, it would mean the world. Every penny helps the Alzheimer’s Society continue their vital work – from funding research to providing support for families.

Because every memory matters 💜
