Limitations

Growing up it feels like we have endless constraints forced down on us. We’re not allowed to do this, not allowed to do that. Be it because you have strict parents, or you are too young. There’s always rules to follow when you’re in school and living under your parent’s roof.

But this doesn’t change as we get older. In today’s society we believe certain rules exist – limitations. As a society we construct these false ideas that we have to limit our potential on who we can be and strive to become, limit our freedom of speech, limit the ways we can make changes to our lives and others.

May I suggest this: stuff what anyone says. You, and only you, are in control of your life. In reality, the only constraints and restrictions implemented are done through your ideas (influenced via society or not) of what you should be and how you should act. Stop limiting yourself to a mediocre life that ticks all the boxes in society. “I can’t do this because of that limitation…. I can’t do that because of this limitation…”. Stop finding excuses to invent the best version of yourself!

And as true as it is that sometimes limitations do help us, like having discipline to get things done, the only person who truly constrains a being is yourself. I am a firm believer that we are all too hard on ourselves and never give ourselves a break from our own mind and thoughts. Why can’t you do what you want to do? Life is endless, limitless and above all else incredible. Strive for what you want to achieve in the short period of time we have on this Earth and achieve it.
